Yoga is the relationship between your inner and outer terrain. It’s an invitation to become self-connected in how you choose to posture yourself. As the stresses of life often add to a feeling of stuckness, asana can help loosen the grip in order to reorganize from the inside out. In this 2-hour master class, Cat will guide you through a practice of adaptability and ease as you experience the flow-through within poses. As you find more fluency of self, your connection skills strengthen, leading to more curiosity off the mat.

Houston Stronger – A Donation Trauma-Informed Yoga Class with Elizabeth Haberer

Thursday, May 10, 7:15-8:15pm
The objective of this trauma-informed donations class is meant to raise funds and awareness to sustain and expand the mental and emotional support available to people impacted by the devastation that Harvey brought to our city in August of 2017. Statistics show that PTSD rates rose from 15% a few months after Hurricane Katrina to 21% a year later, and the percentage of people experiencing suicidal thoughts more than doubled.

The main objective of this trauma-informed yoga class is to help participants feel safe and comfortable in their bodies, to make choices for their bodies, and to learn skills to regulate difficult emotions. There will be no hands-on physical assists. This class is appropriate for all levels.

Please bring donations to Elizabeth via cash/check

The Goddess Series with Julie Dohrman

May 18-20, 2018

The Goddess is recognized in the Tantra traditions as the One Great Source and creative power of illuminated Consciousness. The Goddesses have endless names and endless faces, but each are the very creative push of anything becoming, forming, happening, and acting.
Each time a story is told of a Goddess, it’s a gift of understanding waiting to be opened. Their stories are our stories, and through their images of loss and gain, creation and destruction, devotion and complete independence, they inspire an awakening of power, wisdom, and the very qualities they embody.
Join Julie for 3 very special Goddess Sessions that will incorporate aligned asana, storytelling, and playful practice.
Standing Poses + Backbends: Lakshmi, Saturday, May 19, 1:30-3:30pm
As the symbol of Abundance, Fullness, and Perfection, Lakshmi offers the reminder that we can feel held by her aspects at all times with practice. Our back bend practice will begin with understanding the tools to stabilize lumbar and pelvic alignment for healthy expressive and fuller backbends.
Seated Hip Openers, Twists, Pranayama + Meditation: Sarasvati, Saturday, May 19, 5-7pm
Sarasvati is the symbol of wisdom gained from experience, from learned knowledge, from putting in the work, and from faith.  the one who is knowledge embodied. As we study – ourselves, a subject, the world, behaviors, or anything – we become her. She is who we are when we remember we can learn something about ourselves in the process. Seated poses + twists offer the entry to deeper practices of pranayama and meditation, and the quiet promise that turning inside yields wisdom, knowledge, and insight.
Arm Balances + Inversions: Durga, Sunday, May 20, 1:30-3:30pm
As a Warrior Goddess, Durga embodies who we become in deciding when to ease up, when to go strong, or when to wage a battle – inside ourselves, or outside – to make needed change or stand for our deepest core values and be sturdy to enact our dharma.  Arm balances + Inversions present this challenge, and we’ll look closely at creating shoulder stability, endurance, and the alignment to what matters most.
Investment: $45/session or $120 when you register for all three; $40/$105 before May 1

The Internal Dance of Breath and Awareness with Ann Hyde

Thursday, May 24, 6-8pm
Your Awareness shines light inside and the breath flows.  The body yearns to move freely.  When we hold a rigid position or opinion we shut down our connection to the natural rhythms inside.  In this workshop we will learn to notice the body’s way of finding balance and space.  Those shaky wobbles and wiggles often happen as the body searches for release and balance.  Resisting, holding tight and holding the breath makes us think we are separate from our body and as if things just happen by accident.  As we move through the workshop with increased focus and curiosity we will start to feel messages from the inside.  I will highlight the inner leg – abdominal – neck relationship and how they inform each other through the spine.  Bending, twisting, and inverting we will connect the dots to feel the whole and in some exciting moments command the position while feeling comfortable and adaptable.  It is my pleasure to share cues from my internal experiences with you and give you space to explore and discover your own.
All levels welcome.

Yoga for Menopause with Maria Merrill

Thursdays in June, 7:15-8:30pm

A settling down and in, a pause to pay attention, a self check, a time to exhale and be okay with all the change that is happening within and to honor that change. YOGA FOR MENOPAUSE.
If you seek a space to be quiet and still and calm, where you can leave your daily life behind and have someone tell you what to do, where you don’t have to think or make a decision, you just show up and get rest and restored, join this class.
Come to yoga. If it is your first time, or your first time in a long time, give yourself permission to be on a yoga mat and connect with your body and your breath. You will feel different and “be different” after class. Think of the practice as a way to connect back to the part of you that is changeless to help you with all the parts of you that are currently changing. Menopause affects each woman differently from mild symptoms to feeling incapacitated. This four class series will focus on calming poses that quiet the mind, reduce stress and soothe the body.
